MR. JOHN BURTT, FCI CHAIRMAN
A
US Navy veteran with two deployments to Vietnam aboard a
navy destroyer during the Vietnam War, John Burtt is retired
from the Riverside Police Dept after serving 26.5 years as a
police detective including 18 years as a SWAT Team
marksman. He also has more than 15 years of experience as a
fifty caliber competitor and is a current member of the Board
of Directors with the Fifty Caliber Shooters Assn., Inc. (FCSA).
During his tenure with FCSA he has served in elected positions
as an officer including Vice President and member of the Board
of Directors on several occasions.
Mr. Burtt is a graduate of San Bernardino Valley College with
an AA Degree in Police Science and a graduate of California
State College, San Bernardino with a BA degree in Sociology. During his tenure with the
Riverside Police Dept, Det. Burtt completed proscribed training courses in over 100 law
enforcement related schools including the FBI Special Weapons and Tactics School at the
FBI Training Academy located in Quantico, VA.
Mr. Burtt is a Benefactor Member of the National Rifle Assn. (NRA), and was elected to the NRA
Board of Directors in 2006. He is currently serving his 2nd three year term as an NRA Board
member. Mr. Burtt is a former member of the California Rifle & Pistol Assn. (CRPA) while
living in California. Now living in Choctaw, Oklahoma with his wife Teri he is one of the
founders of and has for the past ten (10) years, served as the Chairman of the Fifty Caliber
Institute (FCI).
Mr. Burtt has served as a gun rights activist for the past decade which includes two years as
a registered lobbyist in Washington DC. He is an outspoken and ardent supporter of the .50
caliber shooting sports and a dedicated believer in the right of all Americans to Keep And
Bear Arms as guaranteed in the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution.
